A college degree is not required, and we welcome women with dual sorority memberships who share our commitment to service, leadership, and unity.

Our Mission

Gamma Phi Delta strives to improve the economic, social and political status of all women; to motivate the members to further their education/training and maintain a better relationship among women of all races and creeds and to be of greater service to the community, country and to each other.  

 

The commitment to the pursuit of Social, Cultural and Academic excellence for young people is evidenced through the sponsorship of youth auxiliaries and through encouragement and financial assistance, of educational endeavors.

About Our Youth Organization

We are a youth organization dedicated to helping your child learn new skills, make friends, and build confidence in a positive, supportive environment. Our programs focus on STEM education, community service, financial literacy, and Black history, helping participants develop well-rounded leadership and life skills.

Through hands-on activities, mentoring, and teamwork, our youth gain valuable experiences that prepare them to succeed in school, in their communities, and beyond.

History

Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. was founded in February, 1943 at the Lewis Business College (Lewis College of Business) Detroit, Michigan by Mrs. Elizabeth Garner, an instructor at the College, assisted by her sister, Mrs. Violet Lewis, owner and President of the College.

Youth Empowerment

Our youth are a great part of the organization. We strive to nurture young people into culturally enriched adults. In order to nurture our youth, Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated is organized by divisions:

 

Rosebuds (Girls, Ages 8 - 12)

Phi-Teens (Young Ladies, Ages 13 – 19)

Junior Cavaliers (Boys, Ages 8 - 12)

Cavaliers (Young Men, Ages 13 – 19)

Membership

Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. is open by invitation to women

in all professions, 

business related positions and 

vocationally trained occupations.
